Most of the lake villages as those in the back country, even if very small, celebrate their patron saint with a festival, which often goes back to a century-old tradition. In addition to tasty local dishes, you will discover some original custom. There are a lot of small and big musical festivals, too.
Summer 2020: update on local festivals
During the summer season 2020, almost all summer festivals have been cancelled due to the anti-Covid measures.
But don’t worry: there are several leisure options in the area of Bardolino and Cavaion, not a day of boredom! You can visit all amusement, water and adventure parks as well as natural reserves in complete safety. But there’s much more: countless excursion and hiking areas for all abilities around Lake Garda, some of them are even unknown to the locals. On the lakeshore beaches you can relax, choose every day a different location!

Lake Garda's Festival Calendar: enjoy local traditions, art and food
Let’s start from the venue Bardolino, where the apartments Alys&Kate are situated.
At the beginning of July, you may join the playing days ‘Giocabimbi’, intended for children and families. In those days you can follow the funny skill games in the port of Bardolino, called ‘Palio della Cuccagna’. On a 12 m long and 35 cm thick pole, that is smeared with grease, the applicants have to balance over the water, trying to reach the lake flag at the other end of the pole.
Participate in the event ‘Aperitif under the starry sky' at the beginning of August: enjoy a lovely evening on the lake promenade of Bardolino where you can taste local dishes, drink wine and listen to good music under the stars.
The summer seasons always end with the famous wine festival in Bardolino, which takes place at the beginning of October. In front of the spectacular Lake Garda, you can taste wine and local dishes, listen to music, watch shows, buy handicraft and participate in many different events. The festival is a tribute to the Bardolino wine: from red wine Classico to Superiore or from Chiaretto to Chiaretto Spumante, you can taste it on the lake promenade as well as in the historic centre of Bardolino.
During summer, you can also join the ’Italian Opera Concerts’: 2 -3 times a week you can listen to Opera music.
Behind the hills of Bardolino, in Calmasino, the festival of Saint Anna takes place at the end of July, where you can taste delicious local dishes and listen to good music.
In a small village close to Bardolino, in Cisano, you can visit the traditional bird market and festival ‘Sagra degli Osei’, that takes place at the beginning of September. At dawn, you should attend the bird singing competition. Visit the well-equipped bird and fish museum in Cisano, opening times from March 2020 onwards: from Wednesday to Sunday 9.30 – 12.30 a.m. and 4.00 – 7.00 p.m.
Heading north from Bardolino, you arrive in Garda, a wonderful village on Lake Garda, where you can listen to concerts and opera music throughout the summer: GARDA ALL’OPERA.
The anchovy party by moon shine (in the middle of July), called “Sardellata al chiaro di luna”, is very characteristic, tasty fish from the lake and good music will entertain you.
On the Assumption Day, a historic Venetian rowing regatta takes place in Garda, called ‘Palio delle Bisse’. Different teams of the surrounding villages compete against each other, paddling while standing and fighting for the lake flag. Of course, there are also music, gastronomy and shows.
In Garda you may visit the territorial museum "MUSEO TERRITORIALE DEL LAGO DI GARDA", that is located in the palace ‘Palazzetto delle Esposizioni’ near the town hall (opening hours are attached there).
Just a few kilometres from Lake Garda, you arrive in Cavaion Veronese, where our Residence with pool is located. Here, the historic village festival of ‘Madonna del Carmine’ takes place on the third weekend of July. Enjoy yourself with lots of local dishes, live music and art exhibitions.
